JDC was hired by Consigli Construction Company and Harvard University to perform the selective demolition scope of an existing 1960’s concrete framed structure which supports the Harvard University Main Administrative offices.  JDC’s work included complete demolition of an existing concrete framed building over an active parking garage.  JDC successfully engineered, installed shoring, and installed protection of the roof slab of the parking garage below.  A high reach demolition excavator equipped with concrete processor was utilized to dismantle the concrete structure.  All concrete was removed and disposed of as PCB bulk product waste.  Other scope of work for this project includes selective demolition of the building including removal of elevators, saw-cutting and removal of slabs for new structural and mechanical upgrades, removal of architectural finishes within the food court areas, and demolition of curtain wall areas.  Challenges to this project included working around an active parking garage and office building within the confines of the busy Harvard Square Section of Cambridge, Massachusetts.
