MIT Nano
JDC was contracted to abate, demolish and dispose of a 60,000 sf, three-story concrete structure in the center of the MIT Campus. Due to the proximity of extremely sensitive experiments that were being conducted throughout the project, JDC worked closely with MIT and TCCO to mitigate dust, noise and vibration concerns.
A Non-Traditional Asbestos Work Plan was developed by JDC and approved by MA DEP to bulk load ACM roofing and concrete debris. After above grade demolition was completed, JDC was tasked with the removal of an elevated slab to gain access to a concrete encased mercury contaminated waste piping system. JDC created a work plan to remediate the concrete encased mercury contaminated pipe, without spreading the contamination to the soil or ground water.
