JDC was contracted with Beacon Capital Partners to perform the complete demolition of a former warehouse building in the upcoming Seaport Area of Boston, Massachusetts. The existing structure was a 200,000 SF World War II vintage timber framed structure and due to improper upkeep, the building was deemed condemned by the City and structural engineer of record. Therefore, the asbestos found within the structure could not be abated prior to building demolition by traditional means. JDC worked with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection to devise a workplan to remove the entire structure as asbestos containing material. JDC successfully removed over 5,000 Ton of asbestos containing waste material from the site. Other scope included erosion controls, removal of foundations, extraction of wood piles, site grading, and performing as-builts of the former pile locations.
