JDC was contracted to perform the following scopes of work at this former 500,000 sf shopping mall complex to facilitate planned renovations/upgrades: selective demolition of all floor finishes & all interior/exterior mechanical systems, removal of 16 escalators and the removal of more than 95% of the existing exterior concrete panels/cladding. Challenges associated with the demolition operations for this project included scheduling involved with the removal of the building envelope, which was fast-tracked to minimize traffic impacts on Florence Street, which is adjacent to Rte. 9, a major artery in/out of Boston.
