JDC was contracted with John Moriarty and Associates to demolish a former MBTA headhouse located adjacent to the Boston Garden and to perform the selective demolition within the existing Boston Garden to facilitate the construction of a new high rise structure that will be connected and be the main entrance to the Boston Garden.  JDC’s scope including dismantling of the steel MBTA structure, saw-cutting and removal of 42” thick concrete walls of the MBTA station that extended over 20’ below grade, and removal of the 3’ thick MBTA mat slab. This work was completed utilizing Brokk demolition robots, skid steers, and telescoping forklifts.   Other phases of work for this project will include removal of the exterior façade of the Boston Garden once the structure of the new high rise is complete, saw-cutting and removal of 3’ thick slurry walls to the new parking garage structure, and selective demolition within the active Boston Garden.
