Henry Higgins Middle School
JDC Demolition was hired by Agostini/Bacon Construction of Rhode Island to perform the complete demolition and remediation of the former J. Henry Higgins Middle School in the summer of 2016 . JDC completed the complete demolition of the existing 235,000 SF middle school in a tight summer time frame to enable the construction of new bus driveways before the commencement of the following school year. Challenges of the project includes the phased demolition of the existing school, preparation of a non-traditional asbestos work plan, and bulk loading of non-friable asbestos impacted masonry and steel framing of the building. Demolition of the school was completed utilizing mechanical methods including excavators with various demolition attachments.
