JDC was hired by John Moriarty and Associates to perform the asbestos abatement and complete demolition of five existing structures located on the busy intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Main Street in Cambridge Massachusetts. JDC’s scope of work including asbestos abatement, lab decommissioning, elevator decommissioning, regulated materials removal, utility terminations, complete demolition of the five structures. Challenges to the project included coordination, design/engineering, and installation of protection of the existing MBTA train tunnel than ran under the existing buildings. Other challenges included protection of an existing one story restaurant which remained active during the entire abatement and demolition process that was less than five feet from a 4 story building to be demolished.
