JDC was selected by NEI General Contractors to perform the complete demolition of a condemned church located in the heart of Boston’s historic South End. JDC Demolition scope included the following:
* Engineering of a comprehensive dismantling plan which included bracing of the existing foundation walls scheduled to remain at the completion of the demolition. The Demolition plan addressed removal of shoring systems that had been previously installed to support the structurally deficient church tower.
* Preparation and installation of all traffic management systems inclusive of temporary fencing, line striping, asphalt walkways, and signage.
* Termination of all site utilities.
* Coordination of road closures required to complete this scope.
* Coordination with local parks department to allow for protection measures to be installed on their properties.
* Installation of roof protection which included scaffolding on adjacent buildings and structures.
* Complete demolition of the over 100 FT tall church structure.
* Salvage of granite steps and time capsule for the owner.
* Bracing of granite foundations with processed demolition materials.
